![]() This replica was built by the late Bob Butts. It is commonly referred to as the "Bob Butts #1 car". Unlike many replica Black Beautys, this one was created to be a working car... complete with moving props, rockets and doors. It was sold some time ago to a fellow in New York named, Ricky DeBernardo. Presumably, this is the car that Bob took fiberglass molds of, which allowed him to construct additional Black Beautys... as well as the opportunity to market "do-it-yourself" kits to fellow builders. ![]() This replica, said to have been built by Dick Dean from a Bob Butts kit, belongs to Dan Rodriguez. It is one of several kits believed to have been produced from a set of molds created a few years earlier, presumably from the "Bob Butts #1 car" (SEE ABOVE).
The idea behind these 'kits' was to allow anyone with a '64-'66 Imperial to build their own 'Black Beauty' with relative ease. They proved quite popular with pro and novice customizers alike! Dan Rodriguez is often seen showing his fine car around the northeastern United States. << Return to Replicas page![]() |
